The People’s Arts and Dramatic Association (PADA), Top Khongnang Makhong, Imphal East, staged its latest production Khoirentak at the Jawaharlal Nehru Dance Academy, Imphal.
The performance was held as part of the ongoing Festival of Art and Cultural Expressions under the Chief Ministergi Artistes’ Singi Tengbang scheme, organized by the Department of Art and Culture, Government of Manipur.
Scripted by Niladhaja Khuman and directed and designed by Laishram Randhoni Devi, Khoirentak brings to life a powerful tale from Meitei mythology. The play revolves around the fearsome Khoirentak tiger—a monstrous creature that terrorized the village of Khoirentak—and the tragic fate of Kumjalembi, a young woman raised by a cruel stepmother. The narrative unfolds with dramatic intensity, capturing the events that follow her untimely death.
The cast featured Sarangthem Henary, Sanjenbam Ruhinikumar, Naorem Brainy, Nongthombam Premila, Laishram Suchitra, and W. Ratan Singh in key roles, delivering compelling performances that captivated the audience.
