Over 3,000 runners participate in Manipur Police Half Marathon

More than 3,000 runners participated in the Manipur Police Half Marathon held today as part of activities leading up to the 135th Manipur Police Raising Day.

Director General of Police Mukesh Singh flagged off the event, which was organised to promote physical fitness, healthy living, sporting excellence and stronger police-public relations.

The large turnout reflected public participation in the fitness initiative, with runners coming together to promote an active lifestyle and community engagement.

Chip-enabled bibs were used to record participants’ timings, enabling accurate tracking of individual performances and determination of results across different categories.

Chief Secretary Rajeev Singh Thakur attended the prize distribution ceremony and presented awards to top-performing runners, recognising their performance and sporting achievements.

Manipur Police expressed gratitude to the runners, members of the public and all those involved in organising the event. It also acknowledged the support of sponsors and event partners, particularly Team 195 BPM, for their contribution to the successful conduct of the half marathon.

The event forms part of the activities leading up to the 135th Manipur Police Raising Day and reflects the department’s efforts to promote fitness, encourage sporting participation and strengthen engagement with the public.
