Imphal, Aug 26:

Famous Indian woman footballer Grace Dangmei has expressed her belief that forgiving each other and forgetting what had happened only can bring peace in Manipur.
Speaking to DIPR, Grace said, “The situation has become quite big now and has been going over for quite long, almost reaching a month’s time. There is a huge misunderstanding and miscommunication between two communities and that has led to spread of intense hatred and building false narratives among one another.”
She further said, “Outside Manipur, the issue is been seen as a fight between religions ie Hindus and Christians and one religion discriminating another, which is very unfortunate and not true. I believe that there in only one God and we all should co-exist peacefully as brothers and sisters.”
Grace said, “Sometimes, misunderstandings are bound to happen at some point of time and it happens anywhere. But is should be resolve at the earliest before it becomes worse. Many properties have been burnt and many lives have been lost. But we should forget and forgive. As a sportsperson, I want a healthy, peaceful and drug-free Manipur.”
The footballer appealed the government to restore peace very soon in the state of Manipur. She also appealed all the community leaders to actively work on stopping the miscommunications and to bring back peace by negotiating on the table.
Grace Dangmei is an Indian women’s international footballer who plays as a forward for Indian Women’s League side Gokulam Kerala and the India women’s national team.
