Amidst hue and cry against the various forms of crime against women another house wife was reported to have been rape by her borther-in-law at Tekcham area in Thoubal district. Wrath over the incident, locals of the area storm to the residence of the alleged rapist and vandalise all his belongings at around 10 am today morning.
The incident reportedly happened at around 10 pm yesterday evening. The alleged rapist has been identified as Langpoklakpam Sanjoy (age 38) son of L. Udhop of Tekcham Bazar Maning Moirangthem Leirak. He is presently staying with his third wife. His first wife had left him leaving his 3 sons and the second wife too left him without any children. The third wife at which he staying with had a daughter.
According to the victim’s husband, who happens to be the younger brother of the rapist, his wife was rape by his brother at his fish farm which is around 300 metre from his house at around 10. pm yesterday. He said, he came up from the farm to have dinner at his home. When he was taking rest for some time his brother L Sanjoy had asked him if he was not going to the farm or not. As he replied to take rest for sometime Sanjoy went to his farm which is located adjacent to their’s at Lousipat. After sometime his wife reportedly ran up from the farm and told him the inhuman act of his brother.
At morning locals of Tekcham Bazar Maning Moirangthem Leirak gathered and after learning the incident storm to the resident of the rapist and vandalise the belonging. The victim lady have two sons. A team of Khongjom Police arrested the alleged rapist before the angry mob reached him. He was later handed over to Kakching police station.
Locals of the area later convene a meeting and decided to drive him out from the locailty besides urging the government for appropriated punishment to the rapist.
