Imphal, Nov 5:
A Mass Sit- in-Protest was organised for the safe release of Laishram Kamalbabu who has been missing within the complex of Leimakhong Army Camp since November the 25th last.
During the Sit-in-Protest held at Singjamei Leishangthem Leikai, Imphal West District, Manipur organised by the New Development Organisation Singjamei (NDOS), Oinam Romen Singh, the Trustee of the NDOS said that rhe missing of Laishram Kamalbabu, a civilian who has been missing in the particular Army Camp is so mysterious. He said that the Commanding Officer of the 57th Mountain Division should take full responsibility to trace out the mystery. He asked whether Kamalbabu was abducted by Kuki militants or some unknown persons related to Kuki militants so that the crisis can be escalated or to divert the Jiribam Incidents. Why there is a public road leads to Kangpokpi District within the Army Camp, Romen Singh asked.
He said that the State Government should take stringent actions against the perpetrators involved in the incident. The State Government should also ask the Ministry of Home Affairs to intervene in the matter at its utmost level. The High Court of Manipur gave an order to investigate the issue by constituting an Enquiry Committee, it is a good sign, Romen Singh asserted.
Romen Singh said that the Army and the State Government should take all possible measures to find out the clues of Laishram Kamalbabu at the earliest unless various agitations will be staged till the clue is found. Missing a civilian within the Army Camp is so shameful for the Army, Romen Singh contended. He said that the chasing of village volunteer forces who have been trying heart and soul to safeguard the territorial and immotional integrity of the State of Manipur should be stopped immediately unless agitations of various CSOs and Meira Paibis can be enraged, this is not good, Romen Singh asserted.
