The National Service Scheme (NSS) Cell of Manipur University (MU) celebrated Indian Constitution Day today, hosting a one-day national seminar on the theme “75 Years of Constitutional Evolution: Issues and Challenges” at the Court Room, Manipur University, Canchipur.
The event was attended by Prof. N. Lokendra Singh, Vice-Chancellor of Manipur University, who graced the occasion as the chief guest. Prof. Thoidingjam Purnima Devi, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, presided over the function. Among the distinguished guests were Prof. W. Chandbabu, Registrar of Manipur University, Dr. Y. Premananda, Head of the Department of Law, Dr. Laishram Santosh Singh, Programme Coordinator of NSS Cell, and Dr. Chungmeijai Mathew MK, in-charge of Jan Jatitya Gaurav Diwas.
The seminar featured insightful discussions during its technical session. Dr. Sapam Dilip addressed the challenges of Indian federalism, while Dr. Homen Thangjam spoke on the topic of Quality Education as a Fundamental Right in India, focusing on free and compulsory education. Rinku Khumukcham, Editor of Imphal Times, presented a paper on Constitution Day: A Media Perspective. The session was moderated by the Head of the Department of Law, Manipur University.
The seminar provided a platform for an in-depth analysis of the Indian Constitution’s evolution and the ongoing challenges in its implementation.
