Imphal, Feb 17: A highly reliable source with the Imphal Times said that the NSCN-IM is likely to back the NPF candidates who are contesting in the upcoming 11th Manipur Legislative Assembly Election.
As per the source the Collective leadership of the NSCN-IM has directed the Central Administration Officers and the Area Commander of the Naga Dominated districts to ensure that all the Naga people support the NPF candidates.
Naga Peoples’ Front (NPF) has filed 15 candidates of the 60 assembly constituencies. Among them are Mathiudin Kamei (Jiribam), Kh Armstrong Charanga (Tengnoupal), K Leishiyo (Phungyar), Samuel Risom (Ukhrul), Kashim Vashum (Chingai), M Thangboi Haokip (Saikul), L Dikho (Mao), LK Chongloi (Kangpokpi), Sehpu Haokip (Saitu), Awangbou Newmai (Tamei), Janghemlung Panmei(Tamenglong) and Thongjamlen Haokip (Henglep).
The source said strict orders had been issued to all the workers of the NSCN-IM by their top functionaries. Villagers who do not want to disclose their identity said that they were threatened by the NSCN-IM cadres of serious consequences if not voted to NPF candidates.
