The National People’s Party (NPP), Manipur State Unit, has expressed concern over the reported fire incident at the party office in Tura, Meghalaya.
In a press statement issued by Manipur State Unit president Lorho S. Pfoze, the party described the incident as unfortunate and said it raised serious questions about the safety of democratic institutions. He stated that in a vibrant democracy, political differences should be resolved through dialogue and lawful means rather than through acts that could disrupt public order.
Dr. Pfoze also expressed concern over recent developments along the Ukhrul–Imphal National Highway, noting that reports of arson, intimidation, kidnappings and harassment affecting civilians from different communities highlighted the urgent need for calm, restraint and effective measures to ensure public safety.
Reaffirming the party’s commitment to peace, mutual respect and the rule of law, he said it was essential for all stakeholders to work collectively to maintain harmony and safeguard the interests of civilians and commuters.
The NPP Manipur State Unit also called for collective efforts to create an environment where democratic processes are protected and communities can coexist peacefully.
