The National People’s Party (NPP) has appointed Rajya Sabha MP and National Working President James P. K. Sangma as convenor and National General Secretary (Political) Mmhonlumo Kikon as co-convenor of its Manipur Political and Election Coordination Committee ahead of the forthcoming Assembly elections.

The appointments were announced through an order issued by NPP national president Conrad K. Sangma.

The committee will coordinate the party’s political, organisational and electoral activities in Manipur, including constituency-level preparations, campaign planning, assessment of prospective candidates and coordination among state, district, block and polling station units.

It may take operational political decisions within the party’s approved policy framework. However, proposals concerning alliances, seat-sharing and political commitments will require approval from the national president and the competent party authority.

The NPP’s Central Election Committee will make the final selection of candidates. The coordination committee will function under the national president’s supervision and submit regular reports and recommendations.
The order took effect immediately and will remain in force until further notice.
