NPO calls counter-bandh as CoTU bandh disrupts Naga commuters

The Naga People’s Organisation (NPO) has announced an immediate counter-bandh in response to the ongoing bandh called by the Committee on Tribal Unity (CoTU), which continues despite a joint press release issued by the United Naga Council (UNC) and the Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM).
In a statement, NPO said the CoTU bandh has caused serious inconvenience and hardship to Naga commuters, particularly those travelling for medical treatment or flights, severely affecting public life. The organisation described the continued bandh as “highly condemnable, irresponsible, and unacceptable,” noting that it violates basic human rights and disregards public welfare.
Highlighting the urgency of the situation, NPO resolved to enforce a counter-bandh effective immediately to safeguard the safety, dignity, and free movement of the public. The organisation has urged authorities to take serious note of the disruptions and ensure normalcy.
The NPO further appealed to the people to cooperate fully, maintain discipline, and uphold unity during this critical period, stressing the need for peaceful and responsible civic conduct.
