Imphal, April 2:

MLA Noorul Hasaan of Kshetrigao Assembly Constituency has addressed of non-receipt of rice by NFSA beneficiaries from November 2023 to February 2024. In a press conference held today, he highlighted the challenges faced by constituents and advocate for immediate action from relevant authorities. Noorul Hasaan began by emphasizing “the prolonged delay in the release of rice quotas for NFSA beneficiaries of the constituency from November 2023 to February 2024. Despite continuous inquiries, there has been no clarity on when the rice quota will be reissued, causing distress among the affected households.”
Efforts were made to procure the March quota of rice from the Sangaiporou Godown, and appeals were made to CAF PD Minister, Governor, and other authorities to expedite the process. Additionally, a notification by the CAF Director facilitated the transportation of rice to Kshetrigao through fair price shops, the MLA added.
He raised another concerns by mentioning the diversion of a loaded vehicle from the Godown by some people, depriving the people of their rightful share. He demanded that the rice loaded in the truck should be returned. Noorul Hasaan asserted that “if officials believe the rice given to people for the month of March should be returned, they must collect it directly from the kitchens of the affected households.”
Addressing allegations of rice theft and misinformation, the MLA refuted claims by officials regarding rice distribution highlights a lack of field verification and accountability. “They did not do any field verifications and met no fair price shop keepers. In the police investigation report, it is clearly mentioned that rice has been distributed ,” he said. He expressed his preparedness to take legal action if necessary and called for a thorough investigation into the matter to hold responsible parties accountable.
