Village authority of Laiching in Machi Sub division of Chandel district strongly objected the state government proposal for setting up of Timber Park in Laiching village area.In a press statement the Laiching Village Authority Action Committee said that the Commerce and Industries department of the state government had not consulted with the authority of the village for setting up such a project. It said that committee had already submitted its objection to the construction of the Timber Park in the said area through local dailies on August 3, 2012.“The committee will not remained as a silent spectator on the said land for setting up of “Timber Park” in the hilly unsurveyed area of Laiching Land,” said the press statement. It further said that the people of the area welcome the development project but hate the encumbrance policy of the Kakching Assembly constituency MLA. The people of Laiching Khullen people gives thousands benefit to the Kakching cultivators and farmers but in returns received hatred and discrimination from the neighbourhood and this shocked the sentiments of the people, the statement added.
