Even though agreement has been signed between the government of Manipur and the Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) in the state yesterday midnight, protest demanding implementation of the ILP continue at various places till today. Students and ILP supporters who have been undergoing hunger strike protest at various places including Keishampat, Ananda Singh Higher Secondary School, Soibam Leikai, Takyel, Thoubal, Singjamei Wangma Kshetri Leikai, Chingmeirong and Thangmeiband still continue till today afternoon.
At Nambol Keithel too large number of women folk today staged sit-in-protest demanding ILPS.
Meanwhile government is all set to called an emergency sitting of the Manipur Legislative Assembly. However unless the Business Committee of the Manipur State Legislature has confirmed the date for sitting of the emergency session it cannot be assured that the Bill will pass this month or next month.
A highly placed however informed to Imphal Times that government is preparing to hold the emergency sitting within this month.
