The North East Students’ Organization has expressed serious concern over the continuing violence and bloodshed in Manipur, stating that the prolonged unrest is claiming innocent lives and eroding the foundations of peaceful coexistence.
In an official statement, the organisation described repeated attacks on unarmed civilians as a grave humanitarian concern that undermines human dignity, security and the fundamental right to live in peace. It noted that the ongoing conflict has inflicted severe hardship on families and communities, leaving behind grief, fear and uncertainty across the region.
Expressing solidarity with the people of Manipur, NESO conveyed condolences to bereaved families and those affected, stating that the pain of the state is shared across the Northeast.
The organisation also questioned the response of both the state and central governments, stating that the failure to restore normalcy points to serious gaps in governance and accountability.
Calling for immediate measures, NESO urged authorities to initiate fair and transparent intervention to prevent further escalation, stressing that those responsible for the violence must be swiftly identified and brought to justice.
