North East Students’ Organisation (NESO), a conglomerate of major students’ body from the seven states of North East India, today blamed both the center and the Manipur government over their failure to control the ongoing conflict in Manipur. The NESO also expressed its shocked to the stoic silence of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi in connection with the crisis in Manipur.
“His (PM) total silence will only further alienate the indigenous peoples of the North East” the student’s body said and urged the PM to speak up lest the government of India has a hidden agenda behind his inaction.
“Even after 50 days both the Central and the State Government have failed to control the crisis in Manipur despite the fact that Union Home Minister Amit Shah had visited Manipur”, NESO said. It added that the Center has sent additional armed forces of over 40000 (forty thousand) personnel and nothing effective measure to control the crisis has been taken up.
Showing serious concern to the unabated violence and arson reeling in the state of Manipur resulting the lost of various precious lives NESO expressed its deep sorrow and pain. The conglomerate of students’ body appealed to all the citizens of Manipur not believe and spread false news and misinformation or false propaganda which will only worsen the present situation.
NESO in the meanwhile will hold a candle light vigil in all state capital on the June 28 appealing for peace and to shun violence.
