NEIR reiterates call for peace and dialogue in Manipur

The North East Integration Rally (NEIR) has reiterated its call for peace, dialogue, and regional unity as Manipur continues to face prolonged unrest. The platform has stressed the need for constructive engagement among communities, aligning with repeated appeals by the Governor of Manipur for calm and harmony.
As part of its outreach, Meghalaya MLA A L Hek visited Manipur and met Governor A K Bhalla to discuss the prevailing situation and the urgent need for peace. The interaction highlighted the importance of regional cooperation in addressing the crisis.
NEIR stated that its initiative is rooted in inclusive dialogue and has brought together civil society members, community elders, youth representatives, and lawmakers to promote understanding and reconciliation. Biswadeep Gupta has been associated with strengthening the platform’s peace-oriented framework since its inception.
The rally has also appealed for an immediate end to violence, urging all stakeholders to prioritise the protection of lives and humanitarian concerns. Reaffirming that peace-building is a long-term process, NEIR said it would continue its engagement through dialogue and public outreach to support lasting peace in Manipur.
