NEFIS condemns police brutalities

Imphal, June 10: North-East Forum for International Solidarity (NEFIS) strongly condemns the brutal lathi-charge on Manipuri students on June 7 in Delhi.
In a press statement, NEFIS said that the students were protesting against the Manipur Government at Manipur Bhavan in Delhi, when Delhi police descended on them without any provocation.
“The role of both Union Government controlled Delhi Police and Manipur Government controlled Manipur Rifles is condemnable, as both the forces cracked-down on peaceful protesters in a colluded manner. It is a clear manifestation of the ruthless way in which the governments continue to rule over people”, the press statement added.
The statement further said that NEFIS will stand against such brutal attacks on the right of the people to protest and will continue to fight and build a movement against state violence.
