Natural Farming Workshop held in Kangpokpi

A one-day workshop on natural farming was held at Oasis College, Ward No. 9, Kangpokpi, jointly organised by the Sadar Hills Green Movement in collaboration with Rythu Sadhikara Samstha (RySS) and Andhra Pradesh Community Managed Natural Farming (APCNF).
The programme, conducted in partnership with Oasis College, Ka-Inn Neocha, THRIVE, InSIDE North East and Khankho Integrated Rural Development Society (KiRUDES), focused on promoting sustainable and chemical-free agricultural practices.
Delivering the introductory address, Gautam Mukhopadhaya spoke on the need to align the Green Movement with natural farming, highlighting its benefits for health and environmental sustainability.
Resource persons from RySS, including V. Krishna Rao and Mogal Humayun, presented the principles of natural farming, explaining its scientific basis in soil microbiology and ecological nutrient cycles. They highlighted techniques such as Pre-Monsoon Dry Sowing and models aimed at improving farmers’ income and soil health.
A separate session led by Michael Suantak focused on the role of artificial intelligence and ICT in agriculture and education, demonstrating tools for translation, plant identification and digital learning.
