National Nutrition Month observed at GP Women’s College

National Nutrition Month was observed at GP Women’s College, Dhanamanjuri University (DMU), Imphal, today with a focus on nutrition awareness and the role of Anganwadi centres in promoting community well-being.

The programme, organised by the Department of Home Science, was held on the theme “Hamari Anganwadi Hamari Jimmendari” (Our Anganwadi, Our Responsibility). Display stalls and a Fit Check stall were set up for students and delegates to assess their health and nutritional status and receive basic health-related guidance.

DMU Vice-Chancellor Prof W Chandbabu Singh, Dean of Life Sciences Prof L Hemchandra Singh and Principal of GP Women’s College Prof L Rajen Singh attended the programme.

Addressing the gathering, Prof Chandbabu stressed the importance of nutrition awareness, student participation and professional engagement. He also acknowledged the services rendered by Anganwadi workers in providing care and support to underprivileged children and elderly persons.

Prof Hemchandra said the month-long campaign provides an opportunity for students, researchers and the wider public to engage with issues concerning nutrition and the responsibilities of Anganwadi centres.
