The 75th death anniversary of Lamyanba Jana Neta Hijam Irabot was observed in Jiribam district today under the leadership of Dr Chandam Kamal Singh, Lifetime President of the Jana Neta Irawat Memorial Trust (JIMET).
As part of the observance, floral tributes were offered at the statue of Jana Neta Hijam Irabot at Irabot Complex in Babupara, located in the heart of Jiribam district.
A traditional meira (torch-lighting) tribute is also scheduled to be offered at the statue later this evening, according to organisers.
Speaking to the media at the observance, JIMET Vice President Ch. Ranjit Kumar Singh said the trust had initially planned to organise the 75th death anniversary on a larger scale, in keeping with its annual observances.
However, due to unavoidable circumstances, the programme was kept relatively simple this year.
He said the anniversary would be observed on a much larger scale next year.
