Naga MLAs have taken up the prevailing situation in Manipur with Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh and top security officials, Deputy Chief Minister Losii Dikho said, amid demands for the resignation or removal of fellow Deputy Chief Minister Nemcha Kipgen.
Dikho said Naga legislators met to discuss measures to improve the situation and held discussions with the Chief Minister, Director General of Police and Security Advisor on bringing it under control.
“We are trying our best. Even today, we had a meeting among our Naga MLAs on how to bring about an immaculate situation,” Dikho said.
The consultations come as demands for Kipgen’s removal add to the political pressure on the state government. The outcome of the discussions and the government’s response to the demand remain unclear.
