Imphal, July 25:
Manipur Women Federation (MWF) today called on all civil society bodies of the state to stand together and fight collectively against the intruders trying to distort the integrity of the state.
Talking to reporters at the sideline of a function organized to honour the 12 mothers of Manipur who had taken part in the July 15, 2004, protest at the southern gate of Kangla, Secretary of Manipur Keithel Nupi Marup, Laishram Ongbi Memma Devi said that in this crucial hour, civil society of Manipur should stand together to fight against all attack to the state of Manipur.
The function organized to honour the 12 mothers of Manipur who had taken part in the protest of July 15, 2004 at Kangla, at the office of the MWF was attended by Laishram Ongbi Memma Devi , Secretary, Manipur Keithel Nupi Marup as the Chief Guest, while President of the MWF, Khundongbam Shini, presided over the function. BM Yaima, Vice President of the Federation of Civil Society Organisation (FOCS) attended as Guest of honour.
In her keynote speech, General Secretary of MWF, Takhellambam Dimoni said that July 15 has been observing as ‘Anti Repressive Day’ every year as a mark of respect to the 12 mothers who had protested for the removal of AFSPA and AR from Kangla in 2004.
The unfortunate part is that 3 among the 12 mothers have expired and of the remaining 9 mothers, Moirangthem (O) Sorojini Leima who was among the remaining 9 mothers was not invited on the day.
Dimoni said that the honouring function of the 12 mothers is organized to honour all the 12 mothers who had dared the AR including Moirangthem (O) Sorojini Leima.
