MUSU revives; election held today

Imphal, Nov 12: After five years long break, University authority conducted an election for electing new office bearers for Manipur University Students’ Union (MUSU) today.

During the 18th convocation of MU, President of India, Pranab Mukherjee had assured the revival of MUSU by the academic session of 2014-15. Today the University authority conducted an election for electing the Union’s new office bearers. Casting of vote began from 11 am and concluded at 1 pm. Counting of the vote started at around 02.00 pm however result will be declared later this evening. Two candidates for Sports’ Secretary and Culture Secretary won uncontested. They are Ngangom Bidyapati and Salam Kennedy respectively. Sarangthem David and T. Langjagin Haokip are in the fray for president’s seat while R.K. Pritamkumar and Manghekam Kipgen are contesting for the General Secretary post. Samurailatpam Mevedasko and Apolo Th. are fighting for Finance Secretary.
