Mount Koubru should be protected by the state govt. – MLA Meghachandra

IT News
Imphal, July 6:

A day after the Chief Minister of Manipur N. Biren Singh started mass tree Plantation at Mount Koubru range, Opposition party Congress grills the ruling government alleging double-speak game to the sensitive issue of the Mount Koubru.
Congress MLA K. Meghachandra, during a virtual press conference held through zoom application, said that it is the duty of the state government to protect the Koubru range and thus the reason for constituting a committee called Committee for protection of Mount Koubru is more like playing a game of appeasement politics. He questioned why the convenor of the so-called committee, Letpao Haokip, who is also the Minister for Water Resource signed on April 17 and again saying it is null and void.
MLA Meghachandra said that the Congress party is very clear on the issue of Mount Koubru. It is for the people of the state and should be protected by all. The Congress party too will take all its responsibility in the protection of Mount Koubru.
The MLA further said that as the issue of Mount Koubru is very sensitive, the MPCC will not allow any of its sisters’ organisations, frontal bodies, or district units to issue any press statement in connection with the issue of the Mount Koubru.
