Imphal Jan 16: A man who lends money to mortgagor has been picked up by Imphal East Police custody for attempting abscond after failing to return the jewelry items to the mortgagors.
Some mortgagors said that the money lender, who is the owner of Shiva Jewellery has been identified as Sorokhaibam Sanajaoba, (48), s/o (L) Angou, Nongren Mayai Leikai, who is presently residing at Khurai Thangjam Leikai. The mortgagors said that they took loan by pledging their gold jewellery from Sanajaoba. However, a few months back, he asked to repay the money taken from him by 15th October. The mortgagors deposited money to him and are following after him to take back the gold jewellery. They mortgagors have deposited approximately 3.5 crore to him. However, he tried to abscond without giving back the jewellery items.
