BJP MLA Sorokhaibam Rajen Singh has rejected allegations made by a woman in a viral video circulating on social media, terming the claims “baseless and malicious” and describing them as an attempt to defame him.
The controversy emerged after a video surfaced online in which a woman alleged that she had spent a night with the MLA at a hotel in New Delhi in 2023 and was paid Rs 50,000. The video quickly circulated on social media, drawing reactions and debate among netizens.
Responding to the allegations, Rajen Singh issued a clarification video denying the claims and stating that the incident described in the clip never took place. He said he does not know the woman appearing in the video and has never stayed at the hotel mentioned.
Calling the allegations a conspiracy to tarnish his reputation, the MLA stated that certain vested interests were attempting a “political assassination” of his long public career. He also suggested that the woman might have been pressured or influenced by some groups for political motives.
Rajen Singh further challenged those behind the video to reveal the identity of the woman and provide verifiable evidence, including hotel records, if the allegations were genuine.
The MLA, who has been in public life since 1995 and has served in various ministerial positions, maintained that he has never been involved in controversies questioning his personal integrity.
