Missing woman found murdered; suspects house set ablaze; Mayai Lambi blocked

A 55 years old woman who has been reported missing since September 19 evening was  found murdered today morning with both her hands and legs tight inside the river bed of Nambul River at Irom Meijroa Mamang Leikai area in Imphal West. Wrath over the finding of the dead body, locals of the murdered woman storm to the house of the suspected killer identified as one MD Abdul Kadir @ Amuthoi (28), son of late Md Ibosana of Hiyanthang Pallak Chandranadi Mamang and burnt it after vandalizing the properties. The suspected killer has been absconding since the missing of the woman was reported. The locals later pour their anger to the law enforcing agency over their inability to arrest him and blocked the Mayai Lambi road at Hiyangthang area.The deceased, Sarakhatun (55) wife of late Abdul Zalim of Hiyangthang Pallak Chandranadi was found missing since September 19 evening. She ran a vegetable vendor at Hiyangthang Keithel. Eye witness said that she was last seen going back along with the suspected murderer at around 7.30 pm on that day. Locals and family members have been searching her whereabouts since then. The locals when went to question Md. Abdul Kadir found him missing too.At around 8 pm locals of Irom Meijroa Mamang Leikai found a suspicious looking body near the foundation of a bridge undergoing construction at the area. On pulling up the suspicious looking object, it later turned out to be the dead body of the missing woman Sarakhatun. Both her hands and legs were tight with a rope along with the pillar of the bridge foundation so as to dip her inside the river bed.A team of Mayang Imphal Police picked up the dead body and deposited it to RIMS morgue for post mortem.Meanwhile, traffic along Mayai Lambi was severely affected as locals of the deceased woman came out to the street and blocked all sorts of traffic at Hiyangthang area.
