Official sources indicate that CBI will soon arrest some persons in connection with corruptions in Manipur. Recently it raided 9 places simultaneously. Reports indicate that there are enough grounds to make some arrests. Some officials who know that they may be soon arrested are not seen in Imphal. They are believed to be hiding. The house of H. Shanti, a former medical superintendent was raided. It is believed that nothing incriminating was recovered from his house. The house of a former RIMS director L. Fimate was also raided. Since the raid was done on the basis of some specific charges the CBI officials must have seen what they wanted to see. Sources in CBI say that he was involved in purchase of a costly machine from a foreign country which is now a rusted scraps metal. One official of RIMS connected with the controversial purchase is not available now. It is also alleged that huge commissions were paid to the then director by certain companies for purchase of machineries and equipments. Inquiries were made in this regard. It is also alleged that huge amounts of money were wasted at some schemes which never came up. These schemes were done only to pocket huge amounts of money. It was during his time that daily collections of money at RIMS hospital were not deposited with the bank. Due to lack of supervision several employees stole the money amounting to lakhs of rupees. The guilty employees were not punished according to law. Is there something behind the screen? Official sources said that immovable properties are being assessed for most of the accused persons. Indications are that some of them are likely to arrested, with Fimate on the top in the list. The medical scandal involving Rs 1.33 crore was finally exposed and the guilty ones convicted and sentenced although it took more than 30 years in the court battle. The convicted persons are still at large as they are challenging the order in the higher court. According to official sources this time justice will be done swiftly. This was for the first time in the history of Manipur that CBI raided at so many places on the same day. Will justice be done?
