Ministers, officials, tourists and locals braves torrential rains; celebrates Shirui Festival

Imphal, May 16: Despite heavy rains and chill breeze, people from across the state including the Chief Minister of Manipur N. Biren Singh and his Ministerial team today inaugurated the much awaited fan fare celebration of the Shirui Festival.
Reporters who went for coverage of the inaugural function braves the rains and the chilly winds capturing every event using tarpaulins.
Minutes before the inaugural function, festival organizers were worried of the torrential rains, but as more and more people brave the rains to enjoy the inaugural function, festive atmosphere returns to the face of each people gathering at the Vangayan Ground of Shirui Village.
Many tourists today throng in at Ukhrul town  to enjoy the festival. Some rides bicycles, some travel all the way from Imphal and Senapati in their respective vehicles today morning to join the festival.
Chief Minister N Biren was thrilled to see youngster riding bicyales in group all the way to Ukhrul to take part the festival.
