Minister Henry flags off weeklong cleanliness drive

Celebrating the 4 years of achievements made by the current Government, Minister for Social Welfare and MAHUD Henry Okram flagged off a weeklong Cleanliness Drive with awareness on the ban of single-use plastic at Khwairamband Keithel today.
The cleanliness drive was organized by District Administration, Imphal West in collaboration with MAHUD Department, Government of Manipur.
On the occasion, Henry Okram urged the people to extend their support and cooperation for the successful implementation of various welfare initiatives taken up by the government. He stressed that a collective effort and dedication is the need of the hour to make our city or town clean. He mentioned that the motive of the awareness campaign is to sensitize the public about the effects and consequences of single-use plastics on our environment.
Minister stated that competitions will be held every year among the Municipal Councils/Corporations and Wards of each Council/Corporations for their service delivery to citizens and towards creating cleaner cities/towns. Rankings will be given based on their performances, he added.
Mayor (IMC) Lokeshwor, Principal Secretary (MAHUD) P.K. Singh, Commissioner (RD&PR) Nidhi Kesarwani, DC (Imphal West) Naorem Praveen, SP (Imphal West) K. Meghchandra, Director (MAHUD) Th. Harikumar and others were present during the function.
