Minister Biswajit distributes Plastic Bottle Bank

The policy of the Government alone cannot save the deteriorating condition of the environment, where it is also the responsibility of the people to save the environment by planting more trees. This was stated by Thongam Biswajit, Minister of Forest, Environment and Climate Change at the distribution of Plastic Bottle Banks under the District Environment Plan in compliance with the directives of the National Green Tribunal, organized by the Directorate of Environment and Climate Change at the Office Complex of Environment and Climate Change at Porompat.
Thongam Biswajit said, there is a rule laid down by the government of slapping a fine of Rs. One Lakh or life imprisonment to those found destroying forests and we are facing many difficulties in challenging the ecological balance and environment. The Oxygen used by us human beings is provided free of cost by Mother Nature.
Biswajit appeals not to disrupt the ecological balance and environment by destroying forest areas and try to plant 5 saplings for every birthday or marriage ceremony from today.
Today’s programme was also attended by Kengoo Zuringla, Deputy Commissioner IAS, Ph. Vivekananda Sharma, Joint Director of DoE&CC, Manipur, Dr. T. Brajakumar, Director Directorate of Environment & Climate Change, Manipur along with officials of Environment and Climate Change, where the Plastic Bottle Bank were distributed to representatives of Ukhrul and Tamenglong District.
