Militant neutralised in Henglep operation – Assam Rifles

In a major operation against militant activities in Manipur, a joint team of the Assam Rifles and the Indian Army neutralised a militant of the United Kuki National Army (UKNA) and dismantled militant infrastructure in Henglep Sub-Division of Churachandpur district.

According to a statement, the operation was launched on June 16 based on specific intelligence inputs regarding the movement of UKNA cadres. Security forces carried out the operation in difficult terrain and adverse weather conditions.

As troops approached a militant hideout, an exchange of fire took place, during which one UKNA militant was neutralised while other cadres fled the area.

Subsequent search and combing operations led to the destruction of fortified bunkers and the recovery of a sizeable cache of arms, ammunition and other warlike stores.

The operation dealt a significant setback to militant activities in the area and highlighted the continued efforts of security forces to maintain peace and stability in the state.
