The Social Workers Congress (SWC) Khongman observed its 42nd Foundation Day under the theme “Participation and Mutual Cooperation” at its office premises.
The celebration was held on a low-key manner due to the prevailing conflict situation in Manipur. President of the SWC A. Birendra’s highlighted the solemn and celebratory moments of the Foundation Day.
The event began with a floral tribute to honour the individuals who established the SWC and whose office bearers have since passed away. Attendees observed a moment of silence in memory of the brave souls who died defending Manipur.
A. Birendra emphasized that the event not only reflects the ongoing changes in education and sports within society but also underscores the importance of acknowledging these advancements.
As part of the 42nd Foundation Day celebration, meritorious students and sports personalities from Khongman were honoured with citation and gifts. 57 students who excelled in their Class X and XII examinations, achieving scores above 70%, and 16 outstanding sports players were among those honoured. All certificates of honour were generously sponsored by the Thingujam Ongbi Ibemhal Devi Memorial Trust Khongman, which annually supports awards in both sports and education.
The event was attended by Moirangtham Nungshirei Devi, Chairperson of Khongman Gram Panchayat, Thingujam Bhogen Donner family and A. Birendra, President of SWC, along with other members.
