Imphal, Nov 17:

Some supporters of MLA Kh. Joykishan stated that he is just an MLA and cannot do anything about the violent crisis in Manipur, including the brutal killings and rapes of women and children by Kuki militants. Although the Meitei people are suffering, they argue that he cannot do anything because he is only an MLA.
Irungbam Sanayaima Devi, a supporter of MLA Joykishan who also manages his relief camp, said, “Everyone has died in this conflict. These women and children are not the only ones who died. Our sir did not kill them.”
“They are attacking the political leaders instead of the Kukis. Why are they doing so? Leave aside the Kukis, who are from a different community, but why are Meiteis doing this to each other?” She also stated, “Even though the MLA is a spokesperson for the party, he is not responsible for anything that is happening in Manipur, despite being an elected member of the assembly.”
In the attack, large quantities of relief materials were destroyed, and his property was extensively damaged. His supporters condemned this action, asserting that since he cannot do anything to stop the abductions and killings of Meitei women and children, and since he is not responsible for their deaths, he should not be blamed for this matter.
They stated that “MLA Kh. Joykishan will not resign from his position, even though he has not been able to take any meaning action for the community in the time of this crisis.”
His house was attacked, and his property was vandalized by a mob. His elderly mother and wife were present during the attack, and both were unwell. However, MLA Joykishan was not at his residence, and his whereabouts yesterday were unclear. It is believed that he was not in the state due to the escalating violence.
