Meitei ST Demand Committee of Manipur submits affidavit to Commission of Inquiry in Imphal

Imphal, Dec 29:

The Scheduled Tribe Demand Committee of Manipur has submitted its affidavit to the Commission of Inquiry (Manipur violence 2023) at the office in Imphal today.
The Commission of Inquiry headed by former Gauhati High Court Chief Justice (Retd.) Ajay Lamba has its main office in New Delhi with its additional office at Hotel Imphal in Imphal.
The affidavit was submitted by STDCM President Dhiraj Yumnam on behalf of the Committee, in the presence of other senior officials and advisors of the Committee. The Committee has engaged Manipur High Court’s advocate Ningombam Bupenda Meitei and his legal team in the matter.
Speaking to media persons, the STDCM President Dhiraj Yumnam had stated that the demand for inclusion of Meitei/Meetei in the ST List of India had no connection with the May 3rd violence of 2023 in Manipur.
