Meitei Leepun warns Babloo Loitongbam, accuses of Anti-Meitei activities

IT News
Imphal, Sept 22:

In a press conference held today at the Manipur Press Club, Meitei Leepun (ML) issued a strong warning against Babloo Loitongbam, accusing him of continued collaboration with the Kuki community and working against the interests of the Meitei people. ML had previously directed Babloo to refrain from public engagement or advocacy, regarding the ongoing conflict in the state.
ML highlighted Babloo’s advocacy for sheltering illegal immigrants, noting that he had written to a human rights organization supporting their protection, a stance they claim is detrimental to the Meitei community.
Yumlembam Prabinchandra, Tenggol Puba of Kakching addressing the media said, “Babloo is involved in providing shelter to the Women Wing Commander of the PDF (People’s Defence Force) from Myanmar last year before the conflict. The commander was reportedly given refuge in Imphal, where she monitored the local situation. ML claims that Babloo arranged for her accommodation and travel, further fuelling tensions.”
ML also condemned Babloo for making inflammatory statements, accusing the Meitei people of starting the current conflict and claiming that there are no churches in the valley areas. They urged him to stop making such allegations, which they say are harmful to the community. The ML also alleged that Babloo, along with the PDF Women Wing Commander, approached the United Nations, and has since been given refuge in the United States by a relative of a former Chief Minister of Manipur and the son of an ex-MLA, which is a lawyer by profession. ML stated that they possess detailed information about these connections.
During the press meet, ML appealed to the public to distance themselves from Babloo, warning that they would not be responsible for any potential consequences. They further claimed to have evidence of financial transactions between Babloo and the Kuki community, which they plan to expose in due course.
ML criticized a Meitei advocate who filed a case against the community in the Supreme Court. They alleged that this advocate had travelled to a European country and Vatican City, where meetings were organized by the Kukis with church leaders and NGOs to secure foreign funding, which ML claims is being used to purchase drone bombs. The organization warned the advocate to cease such activities.
ML also raised concerns about an upcoming peace initiative being organized by the Manipur Meitei Association in Bangalore, in collaboration with the Kukis. The conference reportedly accuses the Meitei of genocide and blames them for initiating the conflict. ML has called for the event to be halted immediately as the funds secured from foreign sources like Church and NGOs is being used to organise the said event. ML questions how an individual working against his community will represent the community?
ML also mentioned that foreign funding for NGOs in Kuki-dominated areas like Churachandpur and Kangpokpi has been blocked by the Indian government. They alleged that NGOs in the valley, in collaboration with the Kukis receives fund from abroad which are further channelled to the Kukis through these NGOs and urged the cessation of such actions.
Meitei Leepun concluded the press meet by urging all individuals involved in these activities to stop immediately, warning of further exposure and consequences.
