The Myanmar Water Festival 2026 marked a historic moment as the Myanmar government, for the first time, officially invited the Meitei Kathe National Literature and Culture Association, Myanmar, to participate in the grand celebration and showcase traditional Meitei dance.
The association, led by Zin Tuko alias Henba Takhellambam, attended the festival along with a 15-member cultural troupe. The group performed a series of traditional Meitei dance items, highlighting the rich cultural heritage of the Meitei Kathe community.
The festival also featured performances and appearances by international and regional celebrities, including Korea’s XI Star singer and prominent Myanmar film stars, adding glamour and vibrancy to the celebration.
