The Samarou Naorem Apunba Meira Paibi Lup has appealed to the people of the state to confine the celebration of the Yaoshang festival to five days and to organise “Thabal Chongba” (moonlight dance) strictly within the five-day period.
Speaking on behalf of the Lup, Secretary Oinam Chaoba Chanu stated that in view of the prevailing situation in the state and as the Class 10 and Class 12 examinations are currently in progress, there should be no extension of Yaoshang festivities beyond the prescribed five days.
The Lup further urged the public to refrain from engaging in activities such as forceful collection of money by erecting bamboo barricades on roads. It also cautioned against practices that may cause inconvenience or pose risks to the public.
Parents and guardians have been requested not to allow children to stop vehicles on the roads to demand money or to throw water balloons at passersby. Instead, children have been encouraged to participate in Yaoshang sports activities in a disciplined and constructive manner and to uphold proper conduct during the festival.
Enat Yokkhatpa Luptin, Manipur (EYOL), while greeting the people of Manipur on the coming of the Yaoshang Festival appealed the people of the state to celebrate the festival following the path of our ancestors to promote or tradition and culture. The EYOL also appealed the youth of the state to celebrate the “Thabal Chongba” not more than the five days that the yaoshang festival is celebrated. The EYOL also wish the people of the state to restore peace and normalcy with the coming of the festival.
