Noney, March 6:
As part of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan campaign across the Nation, Noney District joined the nationwide programme by organising a Mega Marathon today morning. Noney SP Peter Namsadai Pamei flag off the Mega Marathon race in the presence of Noney ADC, Stiff Khapudang and other dignitaries from Noney bridge in Longmai Bazar. It was participated by more than hundreds of runners from both male and female in open category. The event was organised jointly by District Administration Noney, District Social Welfare Office Noney, and Noney Police.
Starting point for the female category was from Longmai Bazar bridge to Makhuam part-4 waiting shed in NH-37 and ended at the Longmai-3 common ground while the starting point for the male category was from Longmai Bazar bridge to DC junction in NH-37 and ended at the Longmai-3 common ground respectively. Amongst the hundreds of enthusiastic runners, first prize in the male category was begged by Gainithui Malangmei and second prize by Gaitanthai Gonmei and the third prize by Rephidim Phaomei while the first prize in women category goes to Kathanduanliu Gonmei, second prize to Lungthaoliu Panmei and the third prize to Gaingamliu Kamei.
It may be mentioned that Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan is an ambitious program launched by Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India on 15th August 2020 to make India a drug free nation and to educate the general public mostly youth and children about the harmful effects of substance abused.
