A joint meeting of EGM, MHJU, and Editors supported by AMWJU has decided to give the government till 15th of this month to take up the demand for clearing of advertisements bills pending with the government. The decision was made following assurance made by the Chief Minister in a separate telephonic conversation he had with the President of EGM and the President of the AMWJU. The CM had assured to take up the issue of pending bills as soon as possible. He also spoke to the minister IPR in this connection. In the light of the above development, the media organisations have decided to extend the deadline to 15th December 2021. The meeting also resolved to take up actions including cease work and other activities if the government fails to take up any visible action by 15th December afternoon.
It also took the opportunity to appeal to the government to understand the conditions under which the media have been working for the last 2 years. EGM President Khogendra Khomdram, MHJU representative and Editor Kangleipakki Meira W. Shamjai also President of AMWJU and several editors of both print and electronic media were present at the meeting which was held at Manipur Press Club today.
