Imphal, Jan. 28: In view of the current volatile and socially unstable situation prevailing in the state, a letter requesting the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to review the election dates declared by the ECI has been sent to the PMO by Dr Gurumayum Tonsana Sharma, President- Manipur Democratic People Front (MDPF) and Coordinator, NE Regional Parties Front (NERPF). Raising serious concern over the possibility to conduct free and fair election due to the protracted economic blockades along the national highways and its repercussions in the state, the letter urged the prime minister to intervene so that an amicable and lasting solution can be brought, and to postpone the election dates for the state until the social atmosphere becomes conducive to holding a free and fair election.
