Imphal, April 10:

The Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights (MCPCR) has appointed Miss Jinatree Thounaojam, a student of Mega Manipur School in Yaralpat, Imphal East, as its Brand Ambassador. This announcement was made during a program titled ‘EIKHOI Lairiksu Tamsi, Laisusu Khangsi’ (Let’s Acquire Knowledge as well as Wisdom) held at Mega Manipur School today.
During the declaration of the brand ambassador’s name, Keisam Pradipkumar, the chairperson of the MCPCR, stated that the decision to nominate a girl child, who has been actively involved in child rights advocacy, aims to promote the right to participation of children. He emphasized that children like Jinatree can directly engage with concerned stakeholders and media to articulate their concerns, thus amplifying their voices. Pradipkumar highlighted the significance of Jinatree’s representation, especially considering the approximately 25,000 displaced children who have been significantly affected by conflict. As a young student in class X, the Brand Ambassador can authentically express the true sentiments of these afflicted children, which will be instrumental in addressing various issues they face.
The function was attended by Ngangom Uttam Singh, Director of Social Welfare, and T. Sanajaoba, Chairperson of Mega Manipur Society, who graced the occasion as the guest of honor and president, respectively. Their presence underscored the importance of the initiative and showcased the commitment of various stakeholders towards promoting and safeguarding child rights in Manipur.
