A press meet was held today at the office of the Manipur Youth League (MAYOL) about the upcoming Manipur University Students’ Union (MUSU) election.
During the press meet, MAYOL President Asem Prince stated that the MUSU election will take place on August 23. He emphasized the university’s role in addressing and resolving the issues faced by Manipuri society and stressed the institution’s responsibility in helping improve the community’s challenges.
The Manipur Youth League (MAYOL) urged the student community to refrain from engaging in election-related festivities, such as feasts, and to avoid internal conflicts. Asem Prince reiterated that the university is the backbone of society, where true ideas and solutions arise from its academic environment.
MAYOL also noted that Manipur University is currently not ranked among the top 100 Indian universities according to the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF).
Also, MAYOL appealed to students to strictly follow the code of conduct issued by the monitoring committee for the MUSU election for the 2024-2025 sessions. The press meet concluded with an appeal for a peaceful and meaningful election process that prioritizes the university’s role in fostering solutions for Manipuri society.
