Students of various schools and colleges today staged massive protest demonstration against the spurt of violence to women and children of the state. Recent killing and rape of three girls including a minor had prompted the students to stage the protest for drawing the attention of the government. People of the state got shocked after a seventeen years old girl and an eight years old girl were found brutally murdered after being raped.Students of DM College, Thangmeiband, Nirmala Bas School, MG Avenue, Leisemba Maheikol School, Chingarel Kangla, Oriental College, Takyel, Hindi Teacher’s College, DM College Campus and many other institutes staged the protest.Today’s massive protest was organised by All Manipur Student’s Union (AMSU) condemning the series of crimes against women and children reported recently. Speaking to media persons this afternoon at its head office located at DM College Campus, President, AMSU, Naresh Thiyam said it is disheartening that the government of the state doesn’t take any action against such heinous crimes which are constantly taking place in the state. The organisation highly condemns the Minister of Education of the state for not making any statement even after such atrocious incidents took place back to back in recent times. Naresh further threatened the government to give capital punishment to all the culprits involved in the crimes and if the government fails to do so, the organisation is all set to initiate various kinds of agitation.
