Mass protest continues over ILP issue and killing of Sapam Robinhood

Around 400 members of the Khurai Pana Apunba Singlup (KPAS) today staged a protest demonstration at Khurai Lamlong Keithel demanding immediate punishment of the police personnel involved in the killing of Sapam Robinhood during ILP agitation on July 8. Speaking to media persons, president of Singlup K. Sarat singh said that delayed in awarding punishment to the police personnel involved in the killing of the student will only raise the anger of the people. He said government should immediately find a solution to the present agitation by JCILPS for introduction of ILP in the state. He said the attitude of the government is the reason for the loss of credibility. He said the time consumed in the framing of the draft proposal regarding the introduction of the ILP legislation in the state is one reason for people to lost credibility in them. He also expressed strong apprehension about having some kind of hidden agenda in the government side handling the ongoing people agitation in the state.
He further appealed the government to talk with the JAC formed against the killing of Sapam Robinhood , so that the family of the victim could performed rituals of the deceased.
He also appealed the senior citizens to come out and participant in the agitation instead of lecturing about the issue.
At Singjamei Mayengbam leikai to member of the Singjamei Development organization staged a sit-in-protest in support of the ILP movement in the state and also demanding immediate punishment of the police personnel involved in the killing of Sapam Robinhood .
Meanwhile, Joint student coordinating committee and JCILPS student wing visited those injured during the ILP agitation, undergoing treatment at various hospitals in Imphal. The convener of JSCC Jayenta Kumar Khuman extended their supports to the family of the injured.
Speaking, to media persons the student leaders strongly opposed the government proposal for deployment of security force in school. While welcoming the decision to re-open the school, the JSCC said that any moved to militarize the schools will not be tolerated.
