Mary Kom inaugurates Pine Apple festival at Khousabung

Imphal, Aug 27: Five time world boxing pugilist, now MP of Rajya Sabha Mary Kom today inaugurated the 9th State level Pineapple Festival at Khousabung DCC Headquarter in Churachandpur District.
ADC of Churachandpur, Langkhanpau Guite, T Pamei, IAS, Commissioner Horticulture and SC/TD, Government of Manipur, Genneikhup Vaiphei, EM ADC Churachandpur and Lunminthang Haokip, IAS, DC Churachandpur share the dais with the celebrity MP on the dais.
“I have neither thought that I will enter politics nor ever dream that I will some day become an MP”, Mary Kom said while speaking on the inaugural function. She further said that she had always dreamt of becoming the best sports persons in whole her life but as she is now an MP she will work hard and fight for the sports persons of the country.
“On politics and regarding how to promote the pine apple growers in the district it will be more appropriate the organizing committee find out a solution and I am ready to help in whatever way I could”, Mary Kom said.
Later, Mary Kom inspected the pineapple stalls and share moment of joy with her native villagers.
Speaking on the occasion Mary Kom said that such an event is the happiest moment for the farmers of the district. However she expressed dissatisfaction on seeing only few stalls with few pineapple products as the festival is a state level festival. But Mary Kom didn’t discouraged the farmers saying that like the way she had work hard to achieve her field in the field of sports the farmers should work harder to produce more products in the coming days.
The lady MP who had showed her performance at RS by bringing up issues for promotion of the sports persons of the country also appealed the farmers to take help from the Govt concern department. She said if needed she will directly help the farmers.
