Maoist boycotts Narendra Modi’s visit to Manipur

Maoist Communist Party, Manipur today said that it will boycott the proposed visit of Narendra Modi to Manipur. In a press released, the outfit said that Modi’s visit is not for the welfare of the people of this state but to participate the Sangai festival and also to hijack the property of the land. It said the demand for repeal of AFSPA by Irom Chanu Sharmila for over 14 years of fast-unto-death protest, demand for introduction of Inner Line Permit System, demands against the construction of Tipaimukh Dam and the demands for investigation into the multi crore scam for cleaning of Loktak lake remain unfulfilled. The statement further said that Maoist will called general strike from midnight of Novemebr 29 till 5 pm of November 30.
