Manipur University hosted the Viksit Bharat District-Level Youth Parliamentary Festival 2025 at its Court Hall, with distinguished guests and youth participants from various districts attending the event.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. N. Lokendra Singh presided over the inaugural ceremony as the Chief Guest, while retired IPS officer Sarangthem Manaobi (Khoiranthaba) was the Guest of Honor. The event began with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony, followed by a welcome address from Programme Convenor Dr. Laishram Santosh Singh, who highlighted the festival’s role in fostering youth engagement in democracy.
A total of 71 participants from five districts—Imphal West, Imphal East, Bishnupur, Thoubal, and Kakching—participated. The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports designated five Nodal Institutes in Manipur to organize district-level rounds. Manipur University covered five districts, Don Bosco Maram two, St. Joseph’s College Ukhrul two, SEMCO College two, and Jodanang Memorial College three.
The district-level round concluded with the selection of candidates for the State-Level Round, scheduled for March 26, 2025, at the Manipur Legislative Assembly.
Sarangthem Manaobi (Khoiranthaba) encouraged participants to utilize the festival as a platform to showcase their talents and leadership skills. Prof. N. Lokendra Singh emphasized the transformative role of youth in nation-building and discussed the growth of the National Youth Parliament Festival (NYPF) since 2019, stating that it had expanded to all 763 districts in India.
