Manipur Police suspends constable over Leilon killings investigation

Manipur Police has suspended constable Thangginlian Vaiphei (C/No. 1809195), presently attached to Kangpokpi District Police, pending an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the abduction and subsequent killing of six Liangmai Naga civilians at Leilon.

The suspension order was issued by the Superintendent of Police, Bishnupur, late yesterday evening amid public outrage and political tensions over the case.

A departmental inquiry against Vaiphei is also being contemplated, according to reports citing the official order. He was originally under Bishnupur District Police and is currently attached to Kangpokpi District Police.
