Manipur celebrate World Tourism Day

Imphal, Sept: Manipur joins the world in celebrating the World Tourism Day. The main celebration was organized by Manipur Tourism Department at Mapao Zingsho Village under Senapati District, Manipur under the theme “Tourism for All – Promoting Universal Accessibility”.
As a part of tourism festival celebration whole over the world, today world tourism day 2016 has been observed at Mapao Zingsho Village under Senapati District, Manipur. Speaking as chief guest of today’s function, Chief Minister of Manipur, Okram Ibobi Singh said that tourism is a fast growing industry which does not require huge investment. O Ibobi also said that the state government will avail all infrastructures and facilities for promotion of the tourism industry in the villages of the state. He appealed the people to pay hospitality to tourists visiting the state. All the facilities needed by the village will be made available at the earliest including gas agency at the village. Since the use of gas in today’s life, cutting down of forest has been decrease which is very helpful in maintaining the ecological life of the forest, he added. Gaikhangam, Deputy Chief Minister of Manipur, M Prithviraj Singh, Parliamentary Secretary (Youths Affairs and Sports/Tourism), Yamthong Haokip, Saikul A/C MLA, O Nabakishore Singh, Chief Secretary, RK Nimai, Consultant to the Government of Manipur, Nidi Mani Tripathi, ECO, Government of Manipur and other well known government officials attended as guests of today’s function, respectively. Cultural program, Takglhul Folk Dance (Pheichak), dramatisation of Ptrei Khapung was also performed as part of the celebration.
